Long Island, the Italian food just pulled up to the curb.
Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace has rolled out a brand-new food truck, and it is spending five straight weekends cruising the Island to celebrate the grocer’s 25th anniversary and Italian Heritage Month.
The truck made its debut Friday and Saturday in Smithtown, handing out sausage-and-peppers heroes. On Sunday it swung by the Columbus Lodge #2143 Feast & Festival in Massapequa.
Every stop gets its own star dish. Next up: zeppoles in Port Jefferson.

A Long Island story
Uncle Giuseppe’s started on Long Island and has grown to 13 marketplaces across New York and New Jersey, with its newest Long Island store at Wheatley Plaza in Greenvale. A Levittown location is expected later this year, and the company is planning stores in Moorestown, N.J., and King of Prussia, Pa., in 2027. That last one would be its first in Pennsylvania.
CEO and co-founder Carl DelPrete said Italian food and tradition have been central to the brand from day one, and October felt like the right moment to launch the truck with customers.
Zeppoles in Port Jeff. Fried ravioli in Melville. Heroes in North Babylon. Honestly, you could plan your whole October around this truck.
Catch it, grab a plate, and tell them WLIT sent you. Keep it locked to WLIT.FM.
