1. Who we are
This Cookie Policy explains how WLIT.FM (wlit.fm), run by WLIT RADIO LLC, a Mainstream Entertainment Group Inc. company (“WLIT.FM,” “we,” “us”), uses cookies and similar technologies on our website. It goes together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage and the small pieces of code that third-party services load into a page. We call all of these “cookies” here.
3. Cookies we use
Essential (the site needs these)
- WordPress. wlit.fm runs on WordPress. WordPress sets cookies when someone logs in to manage the site (for example wordpress_logged_in and wp-settings) and may set a cookie to check that your browser accepts cookies. Regular listeners don't need an account and normally won't get the login cookies.
- Security and hosting. Our web host and its firewall may set short-lived cookies to keep the site secure and block abuse.
The live player
The play button streams WLIT.FM live from our streaming provider, RadioKing, and shows what's on air. Our player doesn't save cookies or anything in your browser's local storage. When you press play, your browser connects to RadioKing's servers, which receive standard technical information (like your IP address and device type) needed to deliver the stream.
Analytics
As our Privacy Policy explains, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the site: pages viewed, links clicked (for example app store, ticket and podcast links), when the live stream is started or stopped, which forms are sent (not what you typed), browser and device type and general location. Google sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_<ID>. We use this to improve the site, not to sell your data. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on.
4. Third-party services
Some features come from other companies. They may set their own cookies, under their own policies:
- RadioKing delivers the live stream and the now-playing info.
- StubHub and other ticket sellers. Ticket buttons take you to StubHub or the venue's ticket site. Those sites, and the affiliate networks that track referrals, may set cookies when you land there, including to record that you came from WLIT.FM.
- Podcast and show players, such as Transistor, Spotify or Apple Podcasts, when a show page includes or links to them.
- Instagram and Facebook. Our social links go to Meta's sites. If we show embedded posts on a page, Meta may set cookies when that page loads.
We don't control these cookies. Check each company's privacy and cookie policy for details.
5. How to control cookies
- Every major browser lets you see, block and delete cookies in its settings (Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all have a “Privacy” or “Cookies” section).
- You can block third-party cookies only and still use the site.
- On your phone, you can also limit ad tracking in your device's privacy settings.
If you block all cookies, the stream and most of the site still work, but some features may not.
6. Our app
The WLIT.FM app for iPhone and Android is covered by our Privacy Policy, which explains what the app does and doesn't collect.
7. Changes
We'll update this policy when the site changes, and change the date at the top when we do.
