Northport, your next boat day just got a serious upgrade.

RIND, a new charcuterie shop, is headed for downtown Northport. Founder Kaleigh Bernier is hoping to open around Thanksgiving.

The main event is a build-your-own charcuterie bar. Pick your cheeses, meats and extras, and they’ll build the board in the size you want. Picture a burrito line, but with brie and prosciutto.

From Broadway to Block Island

Bernier was a Broadway stage manager until the pandemic shut theaters down. She moved to Block Island and found that good cheese was hard to come by. Her mom’s advice: if you care about it, fix it.

So in 2021 she launched Block Island Charcuterie, building boards and grazing displays for weddings and parties. That business will keep running in season. She still picks up work as a substitute stage manager on Broadway, too.

A Long Island story

Her fiance, Nick Graci, is a Northport native, and the village reminded Bernier of Block Island: the water, the boats, the tight-knit local businesses. She wants to team up with neighbors like boat charters and Sand City Brewing Co.

The plan is simple. Grab a board, then hit the waterfront, the park or the boat. That’s a very Northport afternoon.

We’ll share the opening date here and on air as soon as it’s announced. Keep it locked to WLIT.FM.
