Islip, lunch just got an upgrade.
Gemelli’s Gourmet is expanding to downtown Islip, moving into the former Coyle’s Ice Cream storefront at 509 E. Main St. Think specialty sandwiches, a chopped salad bar and fresh prepared meals you can grab and go.
The target is early 2027, once zoning approvals and construction are done.
- What

- Where
- 509 E. Main St., Islip (former Coyle’s Ice Cream)

What’s coming
Head chef Anthony Rubino runs the menu. Expect specialty sandwiches, fresh burgers and pasta made to order, plus a lineup of salads.
The sandwich-of-the-month specials are sticking around. And they’re thinking about breakfast, which would be a first for the brand.
The look will mix old-school neighborhood charm with something more modern, with counter seats by the windows and indoor and outdoor seating on the table.
A Long Island story
This is a family business through and through. Co-owner Adriana Holtberg’s grandparents started it, and her dad has been in the food game since he was 10. She runs it today with partners Marc Schutz and Alessia Khoury.
Gemelli’s opened in Lindenhurst in May 2025, sharing a storefront with Coyle’s, and the Glen Head market has been going for about a decade. Islip is the next stop on the South Shore.
“We’re so about family,” Holtberg told Greater Long Island.
We’ll share the opening date here and on air as soon as it’s announced. Keep it locked to WLIT.FM.
