Babylon Village, your coffee shop is leveling up.
After 32 years on Fire Island Avenue, Babylon Bean is packing up and moving to a bigger spot on Main Street. The goal is to open in time for the holidays.
And yes, it’s moving, not closing. Breathe.
- What
- Babylon Bean, relocating with an expanded menu
- From
- 17 Fire Island Ave., Babylon Village
- To
- 54 E. Main St., just east of Bunger Surf Shop
- When
- Planned opening in time for the holiday season
Bigger, brighter, more food
The new space is getting a full renovation: couches, plants, vintage frames and a lot more room to hang out. A new kitchen means the menu goes way past coffee, with breakfast and lunch on the way, including smash burgers, fries, grilled cheese and soups. Coffee flights are in the works too.
Local artists and bakers stay part of the mix, with a market-style display of locally made goods and baked treats.
Co-owner Kayla Belcher has been with the shop for 14 years and became an owner this year. Her take on the move is simple. “It’s time to update,” she told GLI.
That’s the Long Island small business story right there. Thirty-two years in, still growing, still local. Belcher says many customers have become family.
We’ll share the opening date as soon as it’s announced. Keep it locked to WLIT.FM.
