Plainview, you’ve got a comedy star. She’s 92, and she is not here to play Bingo.
Beverly Munter recently took the main stage at Governor’s Comedy Club after finishing the club’s eight-week comedy college for the third time. She first took the class at 80. Her humor? Proudly off-color.

Her material comes from everywhere. Online dating, where she says she connected with 1,200 men and dated 44. Her many doctor visits, where she says she shuts the door and entertains the staff. Lots of those nurses and aides end up in her audience.
John Trueson, who runs new talent and the comedy college at Governor’s, called her “the funniest 92-year-old I know!”
A Long Island story
Munter moved to Long Island in the 1950s and spent decades as a VP at an insurance company in Hicksville, where she did the office roasts. Show business runs in the family: her uncle worked in vaudeville and her mom danced the tango in Harlem.
It was her daughter who pushed her to try stand-up. Good call. Munter says younger crowds love her most.
Fair warning, her set is not for the kids. Keep it locked to WLIT.FM.
