Commack, your hoopers just got a new home court.
Hoop Lab has opened a 10,000-square-foot basketball training center at 4 Henry St., right behind the Costco complex. It’s the company’s biggest spot anywhere, and its first in Suffolk.
- What
- Hoop Lab basketball training academy
- Where
- 4 Henry St., Commack
- When
- Open now, seven days a week
- Price
- Memberships from $255 a month for four sessions, plus a one-time $99 enrollment fee
The space is split into zones for shooting, ball handling and athletic training. Players get sorted by age and skill after an evaluation, and groups top out at four players per coach.
No travel teams here. The focus is year-round skill work. “It’s really about developing the individual player,” founder Richie Perna told Greater Long Island.
A Long Island story
Perna started Hoop Lab in Roslyn in 2022 because he was hunting for good training for his three sons. He was once driving to Harlem four days a week to get it.
Roslyn grew, Syosset came next, and so many Suffolk families were making the trip west that Commack was the obvious move.
Lace ’em up, Commack. Keep it locked to WLIT.FM for more Long Island wins.
