Pop royalty just passed the torch, live, in Los Angeles.
Chappell Roan brought out Christina Aguilera on Wednesday night, and the two traded verses on Roan’s fan favorite “Coffee.” Xtina also sang her 2002 classic “Beautiful.” Yes, the whole room lost it.

The intro said it all
Roan didn’t hold back when she brought her out. She told the crowd Aguilera “honestly paved the way for me and all women in pop.”
Aguilera returned the love. She called “Coffee” one of her favorite Chappell songs and said she knew Roan was “a force to be reckoned with” from the first time she heard her voice.
Roan fumbled the opening line, Xtina laughed, and then they nailed it. Honestly, that made it better.
Two eras, one mic
“Coffee” comes from Roan’s breakout album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. “Beautiful” is the 2002 ballad that still stops a room cold.
Aguilera went from “Genie in a Bottle” to one of the biggest voices of the 2000s. Roan is the voice of right now. Watching them share a stage feels like two generations of pop high-fiving.
A night for a good cause
The Super Graphic Spectacular is a fundraiser. Night one also featured Lola Young and Tinashe. Night two, tonight, brings Caroline Polachek and MUNA.
Roan’s Midwest Princess Project has raised more than $800,000 for LGBTQ+ organizations, according to Billboard.
Two voices we spin all day on WLIT, one stage. We’d pay good money for a studio version. Keep it locked to WLIT.FM.
