Tate McRae has the most-played song on the planet. In America, she’s No. 2.
“Housewife” debuted at No. 1 on both of Billboard’s global charts, the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S., with 55.9 million streams worldwide in its first week (Oct. 16-22). It’s her first song ever to debut at No. 1 there.
It has held No. 1 on Spotify’s global daily chart for 11 straight days, with about 6.5 million plays a day.

- Ella Langley, “Choosin’ Texas,” a record 25th week
So who beat her?
Country star Ella Langley. “Choosin’ Texas” climbed back to No. 1 for a record-extending 25th week, the longest run at the top in Hot 100 history.
Here’s the twist. Tate won on streams, 22.9 million to Langley’s 20 million. But the Hot 100 also counts radio, and “Choosin’ Texas” reached 58.6 million radio listeners that week to 12.7 million for “Housewife.” Radio made the difference.
It’s still a career best. “Housewife” is Tate’s fourth Hot 100 top 10 and her highest ever as a lead artist. It also debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart.
She wasn’t the only pop star with a big week. Olivia Rodrigo’s “Expectations” remix with Chappell Roan jumped to No. 2 on the Global 200.
Radio got the last word this week. Want “Housewife” to climb? Keep it locked to WLIT.FM.
