The Paramount, Huntington’s iconic entertainment venue, has been sold to Live Nation, as reported by the Long-Islander newspaper. The downtown hub, which took over the former IMAC space on New York Avenue 13 years ago, has become a staple of Long Island entertainment, hosting thousands of performances by top-ranked artists such as Billy Joel, Kevin James, and Ed Sheeran.
Owned by Dominick Catoggio, Jim Condron, Brian Doyle, and Stephen Ubertini, The Paramount has thrived as a small business for over a decade, but it is now transitioning into new hands. Entertainment giant Live Nation will be taking over full ownership of the main stage venue, the exclusive VIP Founders Room, and the adjacent Spotlight Bar and Ella’s restaurant. Fortunately for loyal patrons, the venue’s current staff will remain under the new ownership.
Huntington Supervisor Ed Smythe highlighted The Paramount’s importance to the community, stating, “The Paramount has been and will continue to be a world-famous venue bringing top performers to Huntington. It is fully invested in the local community, opening its doors to countless worthy causes.” Smythe praised it as a model for other venues aiming to make their mark on the world stage while supporting their local community.
The Paramount originally opened its doors in 2011 and quickly climbed to the top of the entertainment scene, featuring a diverse array of artists, including Billy Joel, Pitbull, Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Elvis Costello, Steely Dan, Lauryn Hill, Sebastian Maniscalco, and many more. The transition to Live Nation comes after years of collaboration, as Live Nation had been the venue’s booking partner, responsible for bringing many big names to the Huntington stage.
In a statement to the Press, the founding partners of The Paramount expressed optimism about the future. “They [Live Nation] recognize and appreciate the outstanding work our staff has put into creating this vibrant venue and have committed to retaining and employing them as we move forward, while also bringing industry-leading benefits to the venue and the unique On The Road Again program, which supports developing artists.” They added, “We’re excited for this next chapter for The Paramount and all the incredible entertainment that will continue coming through Huntington.”
The acquisition follows Live Nation’s recent spree of buying other prominent entertainment spaces, including Bell House and the Brooklyn Paramount. This expansion comes amidst ongoing legal battles, as Live Nation and its subsidiary, Ticketmaster, are currently facing a lawsuit from the U.S. Justice Department for alleged anti-competitive practices.
The Paramount has a rich history of bringing world-class performers to Huntington. Over the years, fans have enjoyed a diverse lineup, including comedian Sebastian Maniscalco, who held a 10-show residency, renowned artists like Sarah McLachlan, legendary rock bands like Creedence Clearwater Revisited, and soulful performances by Michael Bolton. As it moves into a new era under Live Nation’s ownership, there is much excitement for the future.
