New Ownership for Long Island Ducks Signals Continuity for Fans

February 08, 20262 min read

A change in ownership often brings uncertainty for sports franchises, but leadership connected to the recent sale of the Long Island Ducks says supporters should expect stability rather than sweeping change.

Team founder Frank Boulton has finalized an agreement to sell the independent-league baseball club to Rev Entertainment, a Texas-based sports and entertainment operator. The announcement prompted questions about potential relocation, staffing changes, or shifts in the team’s identity. According to representatives from the acquiring company, those concerns can largely be put to rest.

Rev Entertainment executives indicated that the organization intends to preserve the team’s presence on Long Island, keep it competing in the Atlantic League, and retain existing staff and day-to-day operations. The ownership group emphasized that the Ducks were acquired because of their established reputation and community connection — not as a project for reinvention. Fans attending games this season should find the familiar atmosphere and experience intact.

The franchise traces its origins to Boulton’s efforts in the late 1990s to bring professional baseball back to the region. After encountering obstacles relocating a minor-league affiliate, he helped launch the Atlantic League and opened what is now Fairfield Properties Ballpark in Central Islip in 2000. Since then, the Ducks have built a track record that includes multiple league titles, strong attendance figures, and hundreds of sellout crowds, becoming one of the league’s most recognizable teams.

Although Boulton had not formally listed the team for sale, outside interest increased in recent years. Discussions with Rev Entertainment ultimately aligned, leading him to transfer ownership after more than two decades guiding the organization.

Current leadership on Long Island will remain in place, including the general manager and business operations executives. Both outgoing and incoming stakeholders have expressed confidence that additional resources from the new ownership could strengthen the franchise’s competitiveness and business growth. Plans for the first year focus on observation and collaboration — learning about the team’s operations and community ties before considering any adjustments.

Future enhancements may include expanded use of the ballpark for private events outside of game days, reflecting practices used by the new owners elsewhere. At the same time, there are no plans to relocate the team, introduce other sports tenants at the stadium, or significantly alter promotional traditions that fans have come to expect.

For supporters, the transition represents a symbolic passing of responsibility rather than a shift in direction. The Ducks enter their next chapter under new ownership, but their local identity and fan-centered approach are expected to remain unchanged.
