The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) has announced the extension of its first-ever exhibit dedicated entirely to legendary Long Island musician and LIMEHOF Inductee, Billy Joel. Originally set to conclude in September 2024, the exhibit, Billy Joel – My Life, A Piano Man’s Journey, will continue its run at LIMEHOF’s Stony Brook Village location (97 Main Street, Stony Brook, NY).

This exclusive exhibit, which opened last November, takes visitors on an immersive journey through Billy Joel’s life and illustrious career. From his upbringing in Hicksville to his iconic performances at Madison Square Garden, the exhibit showcases over 50 years of Joel’s personal and professional milestones. Visitors can explore rare memorabilia, behind-the-scenes footage, dozens of awards, vintage instruments, and historic photos—many of which were personally donated by Billy Joel himself.

A Must-See for Billy Joel Fans

“The Billy Joel – My Life exhibit has far exceeded our expectations, attracting enthusiastic audiences from all over the world,” said Ernie Canadeo, Chairman of LIMEHOF. “Billy’s fans get to experience every aspect of his incredible career through this extraordinary display. We’re honored to have been rated as one of the top Music Hall of Fame destinations in the U.S., showcasing not only Billy but also Long Island’s rich music history across genres like rock, pop, jazz, hip-hop, blues, and more.”

Designed by renowned exhibit creator and LIMEHOF board member, Kevin O’Callaghan, the display received personal input from Billy Joel himself. When Joel first toured the exhibit during a VIP preview, he was both emotionally moved and impressed, repeatedly asking, “Where did you get all of this stuff?” The exhibit has since been featured in major publications such as People, Billboard, American Songwriter, The New York Post, Newsday, and on numerous TV outlets including NBC 4, Fox 5, and News 12.

Global Attraction and Growing Collection

Since its debut, the exhibit has drawn tens of thousands of visitors, with many traveling from across the U.S. and overseas. Its opening weekend alone saw attendees from states like New Jersey, Massachusetts, and North and South Carolina. LIMEHOF has been recognized by Grammy.com as one of the top Halls of Fame in the country, cementing its status as a must-visit destination for music lovers.

The exhibit offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dive deep into Billy Joel’s career, exploring his albums, tours, and personal stories from his beginnings in Hicksville and Levittown. As part of the exhibit’s extension, new items, including rare photos and awards, will be added, giving fans even more to discover.
