Neve Campbell Returns to the “Scream” Franchise

Neve Campbell’s return to the Scream franchise is official, putting to rest any concerns over previous pay disputes. The iconic actress, who will reprise her role in the upcoming sequel, expressed her gratitude for the respectful approach taken by the filmmakers.

While attending the reopening of Reefer Madness: The Musical in Los Angeles on May 30, Campbell shared with People how much the Scream series means to her. “These movies have been such a big part of my life, and it means so much to me,” she said. “I was sad to miss the last one and not be a part of it.”

She continued, “I was really grateful that they came back to me in a respectful way. I think that means a lot to women and to society. I’m grateful to be able to step into Sidney’s shoes again and tell her story.”

Campbell also highlighted the impact of her character, Sidney Prescott, saying, “I meet a lot of fans who say her strength has helped them get through tough times, and it means more than I could ever have imagined to some people.”

In March, Campbell excitedly announced on Instagram that she would be returning for Scream 7, directed by original Scream writer Kevin Williamson with a script by Guy Busick. “I’m so excited to announce this news!!! Sidney Prescott is coming back!!!!” she wrote. “It’s always been such a blast and an honor to play Sidney in the Scream movies. My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me has never waned. I’m very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn’t be more thrilled!!!”

Campbell, who did not appear in last year’s sixth installment due to a pay dispute, last graced the screen as Sidney Prescott in the 2022 Scream reboot. Earlier this year, she hinted that she might consider returning to the role under the right conditions. Now, fans can look forward to seeing Sidney Prescott back in action, thanks to Campbell’s triumphant return.
