Long Island’s Justin Levine Nominated for Tony Award for Broadway’s “The Outsiders:

Justin Levine, a Long Island native, excels at storytelling through song and is now nominated for three Tony Awards for his contributions to the Broadway show “The Outsiders.” Levine credits his success to the support and inspiration he received from his teachers at Northport High School.

“Northport High School has an amazing arts program… You walk in there and it was just like a really special place to grow up and it really kind of fostered creativity,” Levine told News 12.

Levine is nominated in the categories of Book, Score, and Orchestrations for “The Outsiders.” Having previously won a Tony Award for his work on “Moulin Rouge! The Musical,” Levine returns to Broadway this season as a co-creator of “The Outsiders.”

“The Outsiders,” which has garnered 12 Tony Award nominations including Best Musical, is based on the cherished S.E. Hinton novel. Set in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1967, the musical follows the “Greasers” as they navigate conflicts with a rival gang and search for purpose in a world that may never accept them.
